Welcome

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to read this blog! I am very excited to share this endeavor with you! This isn't my first blog but it has been a few years since I've been active in the blog world. For those who don't know me, I'm co-founder of Eternal Fotography.

First of all, I know that there is a plethora of photographers in the world but instead of doing something the world "needs", I believe the world needs people who do what they 1) love to do and 2) what makes them come alive. Ultimately what the world needs, are people who come alive. Something inside me screams, "Do what you love!" and that is what I plan to do.

A little bit about me and how this love for photography started:
I used to live on the boarder of Canada in Minnesota, 30 minutes outside a town called International Falls. My mother and stepfather, owned a resort called Sandy Point Lodge on Lake Kabatogama. Located on a peninsula at the end of a gravel road, the resort is a hidden gem and a picturesque place to slow down and participate in God's beautiful creation. I have wonderful childhood memories of being thrown in the lake, black bears chasing after me (for real), late night bonfires, early morning loon calls, and watching the majestic northern lights.

In the spring of 1996, life completely changed when a house fire completely destroyed the lodge and our entire house (which was connected to the lodge). We lost everything, including our photos.

Losing everything in the fire is part of the reason why I love photography so much. I know what it's like to wake up in the morning and have everything needed to live and in the same day, completely lose it. I also LOVE being creatively challenged! The following quote, is my favorite photography quote and pretty much sums up my feelings about photography.

“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.”
― Susan Sontag

I am honored that I can catch a glimpse into my client's lives and giving back that moment in time is what drives me to do everything with excellence. While I have a lot to learn, I embrace the challenge and can't wait to see where this road will lead me and my family!
